Anniversaries are for Celebrating

Long-term commitments are rare enough these days that they truly warrant celebrating by all the people involved, the two who share the anniversary, family and friends. Gifts of gems and jewelry let you join in the celebrating.

The so-called "Modern Anniversary List" which has been printed in many books and calendars is less than helpful in this day and age. For the fourth anniversary, for example, it offers  electrical appliances. Refrigerators and stoves, toasters or mixers. Certainly practical, but probably redundant for the couple celebrating in 1990.

That sort of problem encouraged several jewelry industry groups to join together to suggest more celebratory gifts. Their suggestion for the fourth anniversary is blue topaz.
